MISSION BAY TEAM RULES

1. Participate in all scheduled practices and meets. We will be taking attendance at each practice and failure to have probable cause to miss a practice will result in being left off next meet. All absences need to be communicated to the coaching staff via mbtrackandifeld@gmail.com. Please only schedule Dr. Appointments, DMV appointments and other scheduling needs during Thursdays, our meet day.  If the event is so important missing a meet will be worth it. Failure to let a coach know, will result in scratch from meet(s) that week. Monday and Tuesday are the chunk of the important workouts, and practices are from 1 hour to 2.5 hours daily. Wednesday will be our meet prep day will be easier but you are still expected to attend. Friday are another meet prep or hard work day for some, attendance is required Monday-Friday and some Saturdays.

2. Respect your coaches, peers, opponents and self. No negative remarks are said while on the track. We are all out there to have fun and only positive support is wanted on this team. If there is an incident please bring to either head coach Perez during practice so we can address immediately. We will not tolerate any ill will toward another team, coach, or official no matter what.

3. Track etiquette, Lanes 1-5 are fast lanes, you need to let fast workouts have priority. If you are doing a cooldown or warmup use lanes 6-9, or jog on the field. Look before you cross! While running, yell track as a nice way to let someone know you’re coming.

4. Dual meets- Dual meets are a team event. All team members will be required to begin and finish each meet. Meaning you will stay and support your team even if you are not competing, even if you are done. Exceptions will be academic related but need clearance from coaches. Waiting for the last minute to do a book report that was given 3 weeks ago is not valid excuse. Attendance will be taken after each meet, as will the announcement of athlete of the meet. If you need to leave, you must talk to Coach Perez before leaving.

5. Grades and Homework- You are your own worst enemy when it comes to homework. Plan ahead, use a planner, and write down work. This doesn't pertain to track but being a student athlete (notice the student comes first) it is our obligation to not only push you as an athlete but as a student too. I want to have more athletes making the academic team vs. making the all-league team any day.

6. Social Media- Please refrain from commenting about anything negative about the school, team, teammate, or other school on social media. College coaches look at your Twitter, Facebook, Vine, Friendster, Myspace page and see what kind of person you are. Don't let something that little prevent you from being recruited.

7. Injuries- Track is a grueling sport and over time your body may break down. If something does happen let a coach know ASAP. Headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, anything not normal from a workout we need to know.

8. Uniforms- Once you receive your uniform, you are responsible for it. If you loan it to someone it still needs to come back and you will be held accountable. When you are finished for the year, it must be washed and folded neatly for next year's use.
